The Spring Creek Watershed Partnership will be accepting more applications for participation in their cost-share assistance program. The Partnership is offering a 50% cost-share rate for regular applicants and a 90% cost-share rate for limited resource producers up to $18,000. Eligible Best Management Practices (BMPs) must improve water quality and stream health and will include: native species planting, livestock exclusion, erosion repair, irrigation retrofits, streambank restoration, grassed waterways, field borders and others. To receive assistance, the applicant must own land within the borders of the Spring Watershed. The watershed includes portions of six counties: southern Clay, southwestern Calhoun, most of Early, Miller and Seminole, and finally, the western portion of Decatur County. If you aren’t sure whether you are in the Spring Watershed or not, give us a call, we can tell you. For an application or for more information, please contact Rich Hosmer, Program Manager for the Spring Creek Watershed Partnership, at (229)723-7403 or your local NRCS Field Office. This program is made possible by a USEPA Section 319(h) grant administered by the GA Department of Natural Resources – Environmental Protection Division through the Golden Triangle RC & D Council.
